Elevator Emergencies

If you are a passenger on an elevator and it stops between floors, doors fail to open, or the elevator does not stop, etc. do the following:

  • Remain Calm.
  • Pick up the telephone receiver in the elevator (it will automatically dial the 24 hour answering service) and explain the problem.
  • Do not try to pry the doors open.
  • Wait calmly until the Elevator Technician, Building Engineer or the Fire Department arrive and follow their instructions.
